Integrative horsemanship is the equine equivalent of holistic medicine, which takes into consideration not only the horse as a whole being through a trialistic approach (mind, body, sensation), but the whole system of interaction between the horse and human.
Communication is the key to integrating the horse-human interaction into a mutual alliance, as well as improving the general health & wellness of the animal.
IHI's founder is passionate about employing cutting edge communication techniques to improve trust and in turn, the physical straightness and balance of the horse.
Horses are body language experts, both in their ability to read it and employ it. Horsemen are capable of developing advanced body language skills, with the right knowledge and tools. We employ traditional approaches such as guided instruction and goal setting, complimented by the use of more cutting edge techniques (e.g. different Natural Horsemanship approaches, referrals to Certified Masterson Method practitioners, Equine Sign Language Technique ) and material aids (e.g. Equicore's EquiBand).
About IHI's Founder
Jane Taylor founded Integrative Horsemanship in 2020, after being inspired by certain novel movements in the international equine space that are slowly permeating our broader community.
Through her practice, she brings elements of integrative medicine into equine management using specialized aids (e.g. Equine Sign language Technique, the EquiBand) and holistic approaches to horsemanship that treat the horse-human relationship as a single system with two integral parts.
Jane has more than four decades of experience caring for, riding, training, and competing horses, as well as a competition groom, and as an equine vet assistant.
